Musical Theater Dance Camp
(Ages 7-9 yrs and 10+ yrs)

Advanced Intermediate & Advanced Intensive
(Ages 11+) Dancers are placed according to current level and experience.)

DDC’s Summer Intensive provides unparalleled training by our respected faculty, and guest faculty. DDC’s curriculum will build your confidence as a dancer, enhance your technique and artistry, and expose you to various techniques. This two-week program is focused on advancing dancers’ strength and technique in ballet, pointe, modern, contemporary, jazz and additional styles such as ballroom, commercial jazz, improvisation, jazz funk, acro and more. Dancer wellness will also be incorporated into the program this year as well.

Dress Code: Solid color leotard & pink or flesh tone convertible tights. Shoes: Pink or flesh tone ballet shoes, barefoot for Modern and contemporary, flesh tone slip-on jazz shoes. Hair secured in a bun. Leggings and fitness wear can be worn when appropriate based on the class offered.

Tuition: A limited number of spaces are available, and first priority will be given to 2-week participants in order of registration. Daily schedules will be available by the end of May. The following classes will be included in both levels:

Creative Movement
(Ages 3 & 4)

3 Week Sessions (6 45-minute classes):
Session 1: June 26 – July 13
Session 2: July 17-August 2

Monday & Wednesday Evenings 5:15pm – 6:00pm

This program focuses on coordination, motor skill development, listening skills, and creative expression. Promoting imagination, while building physical ability; this program introduces the concepts of warming up, stretching and using movement to communicate both concrete story lines and abstract ideas with interactive group exercises. Students develop classroom discipline, body awareness and control while exploring their own creativity, and begin to develop an understanding of the connection between dance, rhythm and music.
*Must be potty trained.

Dress Code: Solid light pink leotard; no attached skirts, pink or flesh tone convertible or footless tights. Bare feet. Hair secured in a ponytail or bun. No underwear.

Session Cost: $75

 

Pre-Ballet & Pre-Tap Combo
(Ages 5 & 6)

3 Week Session (Six 90-minute classes): July 11 – July 27

Tuesday & Thursday Evenings
Pre-Ballet: 5:15pm – 6:00pm
Pre-Tap: 6:00pm – 6:45pm

This program provides young dancers with a more formal study of classical ballet and introduces fundamentals of tap through age appropriate skill development, creative expression and music appreciation, while exploring the connection between dance, rhythm and music.

Dress Code: Solid light pink leotard; no attached skirts, and pink or flesh tone tights. Shoes: Pink or flesh tone ballet shoes and tan lace-up tap shoes. Hair secured in a ponytail or bun. No underwear.

Session Cost: $150

 

Beginning Ballet & Beginning Jazz Combo
(Ages 7 - 10)

3 Week Session (Six 1 hour, 45-minute classes): July 10 – July 26

Monday & Wednesday Evenings
Beginning Ballet: 5:15pm – 6:15pm
Beginning Jazz: 6:15pm – 7:00pm

This class combo is the perfect opportunity to focus on fundamental principles of classical ballet and jazz techniques. Ballet encourages students to achieve a significant level of self-discipline, physical control and flexibility, and correct body placement and alignment. In jazz emphasis is placed on appropriate technique of jazz dance skills and its application in the development of rhythm, syncopation, coordination, musicality, and variation of style. Coordination of each of these elements will focus on increasing body strength, flexibility and kinesthetic awareness.

Dress Code: Solid color leotard; no attached skirts, and pink or flesh tone tights. Shoes: Pink or flesh tone ballet shoes and tan slip-on jazz shoe (no laces). Hair secured in a bun. No underwear.

Session Cost: $160

 

Advanced Beginner Combo
(Ages 8-11 with prior experience, appropriate for dancers in Ballet I/II)

3 Week Session: July 10 – July 26

Monday & Wednesday Evenings
4:30 - 6:00 Ballet
6:00 - 7:15 Modern (Mondays) Jazz (Wednesdays)

Each class begins with ballet where students work to achieve a significant level of self-discipline, physicalcontrol and flexibility, and correct body placement and alignment.

Dancers are introduced to the fundamental principles of Horton modern technique, which is reputed to fortify,stretch and strengthen the human body. It is anatomically corrective and utilized in the widest possible range of motion, with anemphasis on large, full movements done to musical phrases of varying lengths and dynamics.

In jazz, emphasis is placed on appropriate technique of jazz dance skills and its application in the developmentof rhythm, syncopation, coordination, musicality, and variation of style. Coordination of each of theseelements will focus on increasing body strength, flexibility and kinesthetic awareness.

Dress Code: Solid color leotard; no attached skirts and pink or flesh tone convertible tights. Shoes: Pink or flesh tone ballet shoes, barefoot for modern, tan slip-on jazz shoe (no laces). Hair secured in a bun. No bras or underwear.

Intermediate
(Ages 10 & up with prior experience, appropriate for dancers in Ballet III/IV)

3 Week Session: July 11 – July 27

Art & Movement for All
(Ages 5+)

5-Week Session (5 45-minute classes) June 28 – August 2

Wednesday Evenings 6:00 - 6:45 PM

This inclusive dance program provides children with developmental disabilities the opportunity to further develop social, emotional and physical skills in a safe environment through the discipline of dance. Dancers are supports by their teacher and peer mentors who lead the dancers in working through the following: gross & fine motor skills, body control & awareness, strength & flexibility, social skills, coordination, memory & recall skills. This class requires director approval.

Session Cost: $50

 

Teen/Adult Classes
(Ages 14+)

DDC is offering a variety of classes for teens and adults with limited experience. These classes are the perfect opportunity to discover or rekindle your love of dance. The teen/adult sessions run four weeks from July 10 - August 2.

$50.00 per class with a discount of $5.00 per each additional class.
